091 | Loving Large: Being Fierce When Called Upon with Patti Hall

Patti Hall is a non-fiction writer, sought-after ghostwriter, publishing project manager, and rare disease advocate. She is a memoir-writing coach who works with heart-centered leaders, entrepreneurs, and writers dedicated to serving. In her book, Loving Large: A Mother’s Rare Disease Memoir, Patti chronicles how she navigated her life as she supported her son who was diagnosed with gigantism. Patti is the creator of The Story House, a writing studio for group coaching. She graduated with honors from the University of Toronto - New College and holds a Master’s in Environmental Studies from York University.

Patti joins me today to discuss how early experiences prepared her for life as a mother, writer, and advocate. She shares the books that made her want to be a writer. She discusses her son’s gigantism diagnosis and how it led her to champion people who are subjected to visual stigma. Patti also highlights how she found her passion for the written word and serving others and underscores how fear and love both serve her in her life’s work.

“In advocacy, fierceness and love have to coalesce. Otherwise, you’re not functional.” - Patti Hall
