010 | Overcoming the Fear of Dealing with Trauma with Suzy Bastone

Suzy Bastone is an actor, speaker, and Certified Life Coach. After experiencing a motorbike accident about 15 years ago, Suzy had to completely re-evaluate her life. The ramifications that trauma can create spoke to her compassion, empathy, and understanding of herself and others. With rehabilitation and emotional strengthening at the forefront of her mind, Suzy later trained to become a Personal Trainer, a role that allows her to have a broad understanding of the body/mind connection. Today, as a coach, Suzy works with people from a wide variety of industries, focusing on resiliency and building confidence & well-being.

Suzy joins me today to share what led her to become open to receiving help with her trauma following her motorbike accident. She describes the kinds of fear that prevented her from dealing with trauma and recounts her experience with miscarriage. She also explains how trauma can manifest in a variety of ways, highlights how different people experience trauma differently and underscores the value of recognizing trauma-related stigma and having conversations around it.

“We are afraid to talk about trauma because of what could be uncovered. But these conversations open up human connection: to be able to sit in a safe space brings us back to peace and hope.”
- Suzy Bastone
